GENERAL ADMISSIONS INFORMATION

Non-discrimination Statement

Harbor Genesis Christian College (HGCC) does not discriminate in its student admission process against any protected class under federal law. However, HGCC upholds traditional theological beliefs concerning human sexuality and marriage. While it welcomes all individuals to be part of its community, it is important to note that HGCC does not allow the promotion or distribution of materials that violate its traditional stance on sexuality and marriage. HGCC strives to create an environment where everyone feels respected and valued, regardless of their background or beliefs.

Requirements for Admission:

1. Students must complete and submit an admission application (Step 1 and 3 are the only requirements for most certificate programs).

2. Students must submit transcripts or documents certifying conferral of a high school diploma or its equivalent. 

3. Provisional admission will be granted to students until they complete AS 100: Success Strategies for Online Learning and pass with a C or greater. Students who fail the class will be denied full admission. Students will not be able to enroll in more than three (3) credits until they pass AS 100 or are granted full admission by the admissions committee. 

4. Students with a high school GPA of 3.5 or a transfer GPA of 3.0 can be granted full admission. Transfer students must have completed at least 30 credits at an accredited institution or an institution certified by AETH. These two categories of students may enroll in more courses simultaneously in their first semester but will still have to complete and pass AS 100. Students who have an accredited bachelor's degree will be exempt from taking this course. 

Additional Requirement for B.A. degree program applicants 

Prospective students applying for the B.A. degree program must schedule an admissions interview with the college. The candidate for admission must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent to be admitted to the B.A. degree program. Interviews are usually held via Zoom or other similar forms.

Transfer Students

Students who wish to transfer from other schools and be admitted to the B.A. program must have at least a 2.7 GPA to be considered for admission. Students from other schools with a 2.3 GPA or above may transfer to our certificate or associate programs. 

SPECIAL ADMISSIONS

Students who live in the U.S. and who do not hold a GED, high school diploma or its equivalent can be admitted as special students. Special students will be placed on probation until they receive a high school diploma or its equivalent. Special students must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher to avoid academic dismissal from the college. Special students who complete sufficient units to receive a degree will not be granted a degree until a high school diploma or its equivalent is turned in to the college. Special students may not take more than nine credits (9) of courses in any semester. However, special students will not be able to enroll in more than three (3) credits until they pass AS 100 with a C or higher. 

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

High school students who have a 3.0 GPA or above may be admitted as special students and may take up to 12 credits per semester. A K-12 form must be submitted to the admissions office after applying for admission. 

DISMISSED STUDENTS

HGCC will not admit students who have been dismissed from another school or college for failure to pay any balance owed. 

HGCC will not admit students who were dismissed from another school due to plagiarism or other ethical violations within the last five years. Students who have been dismissed from another school due to academic performance will be considered as special students. If admitted, such students must maintain a GPA of 2.7 on their first semester to continue their studies.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

Applicants to HGCC English programs whose native language is not English and who have not earned a high school diploma or college/university degree from an approved institution where English is the primary language of instruction must demonstrate college-level proficiency in English through the following:

• A minimum score of 500 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL PBT), or 58 on the Internet Based Test (iBT)
• Our institution code for TOEFL reporting is C325. TOEFL official score results must be submitted from Educational Testing Service (ETS).
• English language requirement is waived for applicants educated in the following countries:
